Reflection - 2020

Reflection - 2020

This year was a hard year because of the pandemic (covid - 19),

so we had a lockdown and had to do online learning at home.

Mrs Tafea has taught us many subjects like Science, Reading,

Writing, Maths and more subjects.

Favourite Things/New things I have learnt:

My favourite thing about this year was learning how to do ratios,

bedmas, Fractions - Decimals and more. Maths is my favourite subject

because I like practising my problem solving, division and some multiplication.

The new things that I have learnt about are statistical investigating,

human body parts and their systems, for the statistical investigating

we made a restaurant called ‘Falekai Pasifika’

Challenges:

This year was a challenging year because of coronavirus and we

had to stay home and self quarantine which means we couldn’t

keep in contact with people in person. It has been hard because

some people weren’t showing up to the hangouts and weren’t doing

the work that has been given to them.

Highlight:

My highlight is to help others when they need it and encourage

them to achieve their goals. I also want to reach my goal, my goal

is to be on the  level that I'm supposed to be at by the end of the year.

Recount Writing - Rewriting

On Saturday morning we got up really early and watched cartoons on TV. There was this really funny but on “What Now”, when Mike tipped a bottle of milk over Tina’s head. I pretended to tip a bottle of milk over Sam’s head, but he didn’t laugh. At nine o’clock Mum got up, we got told off for making a mess in the lounge. It wasn’t even that messy, there were just a few cushions and some Lego on the floor. There was some milk on the floor too, but hardly any. Mum said we had to clean everything up. I ended up cleaning most of it up by myself, Sam just pretended to help.

Then we went to swimming lessons. I am in the Shark’s group

and Sam is in the Tadpoles. I am the best at backstroke in our

group. My swimming teacher said I might be able to go in the

inter-club swimming competition.

After swimming we went to McDonalds for lunch. Yum!, I

had a Big Mac Combo and Sam had a Cheeseburger Combo.

We got some stickers with our meals, Mum had a coffee.

She doesn’t like McDonalds food that much.

When we got home, Sam and I made a hut in the basement

under our house. We got some old furniture and set it up, it

looked really good but it was quite dark.

We had macaroni and cheese for tea. I hate macaroni and

cheese. I call it macaroni slime. Mum said I didn’t have to eat

it all, but I had to eat some. I ate a tiny bit, but then I ate lots

of ice-cream for pudding so I wasn’t hungry at all.

Recount On My Holiday

Happy Smiling Dancing Young Persons at Christmas | Cartoon people, Party cartoon, Cartoons vector Recount On My Holiday

On Friday 9th of October I went to Mangere Markets with My Uncle Una,

My brother Havea and his friend Chance. But before we went to Mangere

my uncle and I had to pick them up from Shoe Zone.

Once we picked them up my uncle asked the boys if they wanted to

come with us to Mangere and they said yeah. But first we had to go

to the gas station to collect some gas but we finally got there. We all

hopped out of the car to go inside. We all explored around the area which

was mainly food, after that we went inside the main area and we saw

products being sold like earrings, tattoos and many more. It was freezing

cold outside.

We had to stop for a while so that my uncle could talk to his friend,

when they finished talking we went out of the main area and kept exploring around.

Next Havea & Chance left to go sit down to have a rest while my uncle & I

were still looking for some food to eat but the kids decided to eat something else.

When we finished looking for my uncle's food we left the Markets and went to

Sylvia Park to eat other food. First we went to Katsubi to get my uncle's food,

Havea decided to have Butter Chicken and Chance & I decided to have

McDonalds. We all got our food and we started to eat.

When we finished eating we put our rubbish in the bin and left the food court,

then we had to go to the ATM to check something and left Sylvia Park.

We started driving around and my uncle got a call from my mum saying that

she wanted some Wendy’s so we went to Wendy’s and got my mum a normal

meal. Later on we had to take Chance home, we also went home too

I had a fun day going to places even though it was very tiring I still had fun.

My favourite thing about today was going out to eat.

Recount On Fale-Kai Pasifika

 FALE-KAI PASIFIKA

Last week on Thursday 10th of September 2020 was Tongan Language week and for

that we did a restaurant called “Fale-Kai

Pasifika for our statistical investigation journey. It happened at Tamaki

Primary School in the school hall, we got together with Room 5 & 6 and

they helped us with the restaurant.

The day before the restaurant started Langiola, Selu, Moana, Christine,

Ana, Miss Grady and Mrs Tafea Helped us decorate the hall then we

prepped all the food on Wednesday. Even though there was a coronavirus

we still managed to do it, everybody had a part to do in the restaurant

Pauliasi & Dyzon were the entertainment people and they had to perform

on stage to sing a song and entertain people if they were bored.

Meanwhile in the kitchen Mrs Tafea, Miss Moala and Sharon were still

making the tongan food for our customers, Miss Jay & Jairus was incharge

of the orders and the money. After that customers started to come in and order their food. Everybody looked excited to eat the food and some looked

happy to be here, when the food was ready Joseph was delivering the

food to the classes which is like Uber Eats.

Later on the teachers came and Mr Dale had to cut a red string that

was

in front of the door and he had to sit down at a table,

Then all the teachers came and sat at the same table as Mr Dale.

Lexus had to serve them and take their orders.

Eventually we managed to get the restaurant finished and everybody

loved it. Finally we packed up the decor in the hall, and the next day we

got more items.

Maths Problem

My Day At Megazone !

My Day At Megazone

On a Saturday night my family and I went to an arcade called

“Megazone” to play a few games. The first game we played

was bumper cars.

Next we had to wait for the worker to set up the cars for us,

when she finished doing that we hopped into the cars and started

driving around the road, the road was a small circle. We had a timer

which was 10 mins, when that 10 min stop we had to hop out and

wait for the other people inside the laser tag to finish, we got a

bit bored so we went up the stairs and watched the people play.

Once they finished the instructor told us to get inside a room to

watch a short film on how to play laser tag, it showed us the

rules on how to play and the safety when putting gear on. We

all went inside the laser room, next we all started hiding from each

other but some were teaming up on each other. Everyone was

all sneaking around but I could hear their footsteps and I could

hear them laugh, it was quite hot in there but a bit cold.

We only had a little bit of time like 30 mins, Later on we still

were playing but our timer ran out so the instructor told us where

the exit was so we could leave. We all had to remember our team

name to see ourselves on the leaderboard. After that we played a few more games but before we left we played a basketball

game and a punching bag game.

I had fun and I am glad that I participated in each game

which were extremely fun. Finally we went to Mcdonalds to eat,

lastly we drove back home.

ALL ABOUT ME

ALL ABOUT ME

Cruises to Vava u, Tonga | Holland America Line Cruises

(This picture is an image of Vava’u)
This is the place where my
grandpa came from.

Malo e lelei my name is Vaimoana and I am proudly
named after my grandpa’s auntie, her name is also Vaimoana.
They named me Vaimoana because my grandpa wanted to
name me after his auntie. My nickname “Moana” is
what people usually call me and it means ocean so I
am named after the ocean too.

My last name “Sikalu” was from my
grandpa's side in Tonga, Vava’u. I am proud
to have this last name because I am proud of my culture.
In my family 28 people in my family live in Tonga and 1
person from my family lives in the United States of America.
My last name is hard for people to pronounce but all that
matters is that they tried their best to say it. The last name
is important because it identifies which family you belong to
and where your inheritance also comes from.

Names are important to our families
because they are memories of lost loved ones
or names given to make connections with a distant family.
